"I am a father, and I have suffered an injustice… do I not have the right to ask for redress? My family was broken by a 'divorce for discord' (tatliq lil-chiqaq) petition filed against me without any reasonable ground, without proof, without evidence. A mere unilateral decision by the mother of my son — and that decision turned my life upside down, scattered my family and deprived me of what I hold dearest: my son.
Today I see how divorce has become an easy way to destroy a family, and I ask a simple question: where is justice? I am not only asking for redress for the injustice I suffered, I am also asking for custody, because the person who decided to destroy the family without a legitimate reason is not the one to be trusted with the child's interests. A child needs a stable environment, tenderness and serenity, not score-settling, misuse of the law and deprivation of his father. I attack no one, but I want my right as a father and my son's right."
What the law allows you
If you are in a similar situation — the victim of an abusive divorce for discord and still fighting to remain present in your child's life — do not stay silent: the law allows you to claim compensation for the harm resulting from the divorce when the other party is responsible for it, and to apply for custody when the child's interests require it.
