From the creation in July 2023 to the hearing before the Royal Commission, then the mediation unit, the day at Parliament and French radio: a short presentation of the association's path.
Created in Rabat on 29 July 2023, the Moroccan Association for the Defence of the Rights of Fathers and Children works to protect children's fundamental rights, maintain family ties after parental separation and promote shared parental responsibility.
Milestones
- 8 December 2023 – The association's representatives are received in Rabat by the Royal Commission in charge of revising the Moudawana, to which they present proposals inspired by the international conventions on the rights of the child: shared parental responsibility, shared custody, joint legal guardianship, balanced sharing of parental responsibilities and stronger family mediation.
- August 2024 – Creation of the mediation, family conciliation and assistance unit "SOS Papa Maroc", dedicated to supporting parents facing family conflict and the severing of the parent–child bond. Thanks to its work, more than ten favourable judgments for failure to hand over a child have been obtained for parents it accompanied.
- 29 April 2026 – The association is invited to a meeting at the Moroccan Parliament, with psychology professionals, political representatives and civil-society actors, on child protection, family-law reform and taking children's psychological needs into account in family proceedings.
- 22 May 2026 – The vice-president and secretary general is the guest of the French programme "Famille Justice Enfance" on RLP 102.3 FM, to present the situation in Morocco, the association's work and the reforms needed.
The association also advocates the involvement of child psychiatrists, psychologists and other mental-health professionals in family proceedings involving children, and the rapid handling of cases to preserve their best interests. It defends a modern vision of the family based on co-parenting.
